Anuj Clinches Men’s Singles Title; Anirudh Emerges U-18 Champion at 2nd Dr. K.L. Garg Scholarship Tennis Tournament

Lucknow: Displaying sharp court coverage, powerful serves and intelligent shot selection, Anuj Kumar lifted the Men’s Singles title at the 2nd Dr. K.L. Garg Scholarship Tennis Tournament. In a closely fought final, Anuj defeated Anirudh Kumar 7–5 to claim the championship at the La Martiniere Lawn Tennis Facility, hosted by SDS Tennis Academy.

In the Under-18 Boys category, however, Anirudh Kumar bounced back strongly to secure the title. Meeting Anuj once again in the age-group final, Anirudh showed remarkable resilience, prevailing in a thrilling tie-break. He won 7-6 (7-3), capitalising on big serves and clutch play in the decisive moments. Anuj, who had already endured a gruelling men’s final, appeared to be feeling the fatigue during the U-18 contest.

The tournament saw impressive performances across categories. In the Under-16 Boys final, Rohin Raj emerged champion, defeating Arnav Chauhan 7–2 with a commanding display of confidence and consistency.

Prize Distribution Ceremony

The closing and award ceremony was graced by Puneet Agarwal, Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Tennis Association, who attended as the Chief Guest. He, along with Poonam Sagar, founding member of SDS, presented trophies and medals to the winners and runners-up.
The ceremony was presided over by Pawan Sagar of SDS, who extended gratitude to all dignitaries and supporters. Among those present were Saurabh Chaturvedi, Alok Bhatnagar and other academy members.

The tournament, known for nurturing young talent and encouraging competitive tennis at grassroots level, witnessed spirited matches, emerging champions and a display of promising skills—reflecting the growing enthusiasm for tennis in the region.
